Scotland is preparing for a new referendum on independence

The first Minister of Scotland and head of the Scottish national party (SNP) Nicola Sturgeon asking the regional Parliament to hold a second referendum on independence, given the fact that the majority of Scots voted against Brexit and want to stay in the EU. The Sturgeon noted that a second referendum should be conducted between autumn 2018 and spring 2019 when clearer conditions of a British exit from the European Union.

Note that the majority of Scots, namely 62%, voted for preservation of Britain’s membership in the European Union in a referendum, held in June 2016, and in early September, the Scottish government initiated the preparation of legislative framework for the holding of a new referendum on independence. Recall that the first referendum on Scottish independence held in September 2014.
